Teachers may be unable to see how their students earned the designation of mastery of a goal because in some applications, the software, not the teacher, determines questions asked and the grades assigned, they wrote in a 2019 report. They also found that students would just look up answers on their computers in a separate browser or on a smartphone while taking assessments. The students quickly realize a computer is easy to trick compared to a human teacher. This is at the heart of the cheating issue. Are students spending school days engaged in live lessons with a local teacher who is crafting curriculum to meet their needs?Or are they watching videos that explain content and clicking through multiple choice questions?Katie Harris teaches senior English at Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy, a statewide virtual school run by the national company K12, Inc. In her first year, students turned in a lot of plagiarized essays, she said. Now, she knows she has to rewrite her lessons, assignments, quizzes and tests every year. K12 schools use their own virtual curriculum, not Edgenuity or Exact Path. A plagiarism detection service, Turnitin, automatically scans students work. At Epic Charter Schools, the states largest virtual school, teachers can be responsible for students in all grades and subjects and outside what they are certified to teach. Families can choose from more than a dozen learning platforms Edgenuity and Exact Path among them, making it particularly difficult to supplement or build their own course.

Greetings! Its been a long time. In the time I havent been posting, I have been finishing up my first year of grad school, going through training to be a Child Abuse Response Team advocate, and working at my internship for the summer with children who have developmental delays and exhibit symptoms of various disabilities, all while simultaneously figuring out the type of person I want to be and reconnecting with old friends, as well as building friendships with new ones. I can say I am a very happy individual at this point of my life. I have been interacting with humans of all ages, all personalities, and several different beliefs and I have broadened my views to understand the views of others I would have never otherwise have gotten to know better. Of course, not everyone is open to getting to know others. There is stranger danger everywhere, trust is hard to come by and opposing ideas will spark conflict along with conversation. One discussion I have happened upon recently is the perspective that I do not look like who people assume of, and have to constantly explain myself to others. You see, I am constantly assumed to be Hispanic/Latina, when I am actually Filipino. My entire adolescence til now I have been automatically spoken to in Spanish or given a stereotype and suddenly felt like an outcast when I dont understand. Which shouldnt be a problem, because its not like I should know about a culture other than my own. It hurts me sometimes when after I tell them Im a different ethnicity than the one they have labeled me, they demand proof.

The state lab can handle a little more than 5,000 tests a day, so the challenge is to test a large number of people in a short span without overwhelming the lab, Dosch said. Finding workers to staff the 34 testing events in August will be another major challenge. A testing event at the Fargodome or the Bismarck Event Center with 1,500 available tests requires between 80 and 100 workers, Dosch said. The North Dakota National Guard has been assisting with testing events, but committee member Sen. Brad Bekkedahl, R Williston, who serves as a colonel in the Guard, said soldiers are overwhelmed and overworked. The task force considered holding testing events during fall registration on campuses, but the congregating nature of the event made it unrealistic, Dosch said. Timely contact tracing will be key once positive cases are identified on campuses, Dosch said. Health officials will have access to a centralized database of class, dorm and other information to identify students and faculty who might have been exposed. Rep. Rick Becker, R Bismarck, was skeptical that initial widespread testing would be worth the time, effort and cost, considering that students are not confined to campus and could catch the virus after they arrive. He agreed with Becker that one round of testing wouldnt be enough to stop the spread and said frequent testing afterward would be key.

For them, paying thousands anywhere from $2,000 for a 130 BandC class buck to $20,000+ for something in the 190 range to shoot an animal on a game farm amounts to the same thing as hiring a guide. Integral to this treatise, however, while a week in a noted whitetail state under the tutelage of an experienced guide might produce a buck that would make the book, a day or two on a preserve is almost a guarantee even though neither Boone and Crockett nor Pope and Young will permit antlers from a buck taken inside a fence to be entered. Ironically, however, according to the original research of Dr. Stephen Kellert from Yale University, this insatiable quest for big antlers is precisely the point where hunting begins to lose support from the larger, non hunting segment of our society. Therefore, as a part of the ethical and moral collage of a sport that is legitimate to many Americans only when done for foodand manage game populations, preserve shoots, like guided hunts for trophy animals, gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, you cant eat the horns. Most people this writer included may hunt for a lifetime without seeing, let alone taking, a buck of the size common on shooting preserves. And for some people again, this writer included thats OK. Someday, having hunted well and fairly, this writer would like to have the totem of an enormous buck hanging on his wall but until that day comes, making my winter meat, as hunter and author David Petersen said, is the primary reason for being out there. Obviously, however, this approach to hunting doesnt jibe with the image presented in our outdoor press. When was the last time you saw a doe or even a smallish buck for that matter on the front cover of your favorite bulls and bullets magazine? To the owners and publishers of the outdoor press, therefore, its a matter of economic survival. Spike bucks on the cover wont entice people to subscribe or buy at the newsstand and low subscription and sales numbers dont entice advertisers.
